Karen Safrit, MFA,  joined Elemental Music following a long tenure as a volunteer board member at the Santa Monica High School Orchestra Parents Association assisting with programmatic elements of the high school orchestras as well as fundraising to meet the needs of a top tier public school music program. She is also an alumni parent of two children who began their musical journeys with Elemental Strings, in the programs’ infancy. Karen’s background is in dance choreography and performance, having toured nationally and internationally with the Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance Company, earning her Master of Fine Arts from the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, and educating others in dance, choreography and somatic practices at institutions of higher education and in studio settings.
